NBA Slam Dunk Contest If I Were In Charge

Great dunk contest contestants are probably a thing of the past

What exactly has the NBA dunk contest become?

Will you watch because Blake “The Quake” Griffin is in it?

Will JaVale McGee try one of those take off from the free throw line deals?

I have a few guys in mind who would be better options to participate in the contest.  Of course Blake would still be the odds-on favorite, but come on, the NBA can do better.  Sure, Serge Ibaka and JaVale McGee are athletic specimen who can rise and throw em’ down with style and ease, but unless you are Blake Griffin or Dwight Howard, big men dunking in non-game situations is just very ordinary. As for Brandon Jennings, coming off a foot injury doesn’t bode too well for his chances to shine. He can throw down a nice lefty jam but certainly isn’t known for his dunking prowess anyways.

3 players I would have liked to see join Blake Griffin in the dunk contest…

Russell Westbrook-

Not only can he elevate and punish the rim like few else can, he glides through the air almostly effortlessly.  I think he would be a good candidate to dunk over some people.  Maybe Russell could bring B.J. Mullens along for that.   Even better, where is Frederic Weis?

Ronnie Price-

Ronnie D’Wayne Price is listed at about 6’2, probably more like 6’1.  Not a lot of casual basketball fans have heard of him, but he’s got hops and has thrown down some pretty stellar dunks throughout his nearly 300 game NBA career.  He’s an explosive little guy similar to Nate Robinson, but probably not as annoying.

Derrick Rose-

 Need I even explain?

  2. I think Serge has the potential to do something special, which could make this year pretty fun. Some of his youtube vids of him dunking overseas are impressive so at least there's a chance. But still can't wrap my head around Jennings being there though.
